Wise men don’t cry
Short of falling to their knees for a white lie
And these four letter words plague my life
They take over my mind and I’m so, I’m so tired
Our reasons for falling away
They keep bringing us back to the same place
Alone when it’s all, and it’s over
It will run through our brains for another hour or so
Nobody’s holding out their hands
No one’s taking anyones demands
I’ve got this feeling that it’s all ok
When nothing feels right anymore
Truth is the hardest part
And the rest is gone, gone, gone
The rest is just gone
I’m scared of everything
Comes from wearing our hearts on our sleeves
And I’ll try my best to believe
That you never said what you mean
Please say what you mean
Nobody’s holding out their hands
No one’s taking anyones demands
I’ve got this feeling that it’s all ok
When nothing feels right anymore
Truth is the hardest part
And the rest is gone, gone, gone
The rest is all gone
The rest is all gone

This is the first album I found that really spoke to me as a young fem.
From the simplicity, the bass drum, specifically in landfill is so steady and soothing. I love landfill because it perfectly portrays trauma bonds, sexual or romantic relationships rooted in power imbalance. Being led on, unrequited love, constantly being clueless if someone is a real friend, or a lover. Are they yours or are they ruthlessly rogue. Untameable. Love and hate are such similar feelings, and they often mingle. clementinehatepageichangedmymind

It may not be a full-fledged LP, but All Delighted People is probably my favourite of Sufjan's works. Without an overaching album theme to tie the songs together, it felt like Sufjan was free to experiment on each track and give them their own unique sound. And because of that (and Sufjan's talent), every track on there is a standout track. Angkasawan
